Sheltering Arms Hospital and VCU Health System Announce Groundbreaking
RICHMOND, Va. (May 10, 2018) — Officials from Sheltering Arms Hospital and VCU Health System will celebrate the start of construction on a new state-of-the art rehabilitation institute during a groundbreaking event on Tuesday, May 15.
Media are invited to attend the groundbreaking for the new “Sheltering Arms Rehab Institute – a joint venture with VCU Health” at 2000 Wilkes Ridge Parkway, just west of Short Pump in Goochland County. A reception will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the program begins at 10:00 a.m. Officials will be available for interviews from 9:30-10:00 a.m. in the pre-program press area, with a photo opportunity at 9:45 am.
A 114-bed, 200,000 square foot hospital will be constructed on the 25-acre site in the West Creek Medical Park off Broad Street Road, just east of the state Route 288 interchange.
The state-of-the-science institute, which is expected to open in the spring of 2020, will combine the current inpatient rehabilitation programs of Sheltering Arms and VCU Health to provide comprehensive and innovative physical rehabilitative inpatient care for people who have sustained a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, or similar illnesses and injuries.
