Who attends the Club Rec program?
Club Rec is appropriate for individuals who have experienced stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, amputation, Parkinson’s disease or another neurological condition or illness.
Club Rec members must also:
- Successfully complete an intake assessment.
- Be independent with toileting, eating, dressing, medication management and mobility with or without an assistive device.
Who would be interested in attending Club Rec?
Individuals who are living with a physical limitation and are seeking opportunities for socialization, recreation and community outings may be interested in the Club Rec program. Club Rec is also helpful in maintaining function and progress gained during rehab and offering respite for caregivers.

What are the hours of operation?
Structured programming by Recreation Therapists is provided from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Extended hours are available from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
What is the cost for participation in the Club Rec program?
The cost for the Club Rec program is $35.00 per day. Sliding scale fees are available at $8.00 or $16.00 per day if a financial assistance application has been completed and approved by the Financial Assistance Department at Sheltering Arms.
Does insurance cover the Club Rec program fees?
Club Rec is a non medically based program and does not qualify for Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance funding.
Is transportation available to and from Club Rec?
Although Sheltering Arms does not provide transportation to and from the Club Rec program, many members access transportation through GRTC-CARE, GRTC-Chesterfield Access and Senior Connections. Club Rec is also located on the city bus line and there is a bus stop directly in front of the building

Once your admission has been approved, you will be asked to determine the number of days you plan to attend each week and complete a contract accordingly. Payment is due the first day of the month for the contracted number of days per week you plan to attend.
