If you enjoy a structured workout, Sheltering Arms offers many options to join an exercise class in the water or on land. We have class options designed to accommodate beginners as well as those with more experience.

Fitness Classes

Cardio Blast Boot Camp
This moderately advanced program is aimed at increasing whole body wellness through circuit training. The circuit consists of several training stations that vary among strength, balance and core, while maintaining an elevated heart rate within the cardiovascular training zone determined by 60-85% of age predicted maximum heart rate.

Core Strengthening
This class strengthens the back and abdominal region. Exercise balls and balance disks are used to improve stability, balance and strength in the core areas of the body. Everything we do in our daily activities requires the use of these central muscles. Strengthening your core will significantly increase your overall strength.

Gentle Yoga
A series of gentle postures that improves flexibility, strengthens the immune system, tones muscles and promotes relaxation. These techniques revitalize and calm the mind and body.

SeniorLITE (Limited Individuals can Tolerate Exercise)
This land-based class uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility, improve range of motion and maintain muscle strength. It also incorporates weight-bearing exercises to improve bone density. An excellent, easy-paced class highly recommended for individuals with arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc.

Strength & Conditioning
A circuit training class that provides a full body workout. Participants exercise independently in a group setting under the leadership and direct contact of our qualified fitness staff. The class consists of stretching and range of motion exercises, resistance training to improve muscular strength and endurance, and an aerobic workout to increase cardiovascular endurance.


Aquatic Classes

Aquacise
This advanced water aerobics class provides a full body workout. Classes consist of water walking, stretching and range of motion exercises before beginning a 25-minute aerobic workout to increase cardiovascular endurance. Resistive aquatic equipment is used throughout the class.

AquaLITE I
This warm water recreation program is excellent for beginners. The class is designed to reduce pain and stiffness, maintain functional range of motion, and improve balance and flexibility. You will exercise at a gentle pace, while working all of your joints from head to toe.

AquaLITE II
A step up from AquaLITE I that includes a 15-minute cardio endurance session along with various strengthening exercises.

Hydrolite
This intermediate level class consists of aquatic workouts that use the physical properties of water to provide resistance, increasing your strength and muscular endurance. The class includes aerobic exercises to enhance cardiovascular endurance and a routine of conditioning, light stretching and range of motion exercises. Hydrofit buoys, webbed gloves and other aquatic equipment are used to enhance the workout.

Senior Hydrolite
An intermediate level class, these aquatic workouts use the physical properties of water to provide resistance which increases strength and muscular endurance. Classes consist of aerobic exercises to enhance cardiovascular endurance and a routine of conditioning, light stretching and range of motion exercises.
